Reknit Sweeps the Nation - Take a quick poll
 |
Did you hear the story on NPR on Feb. 24 about a family that immigrated from Aremenia to Toledo and their mom will reknit your sweater into gloves, a scarf, or whatever? Listen now>>>
Here’s the Reknit website >>>
or you can be a Reknit fan on Facebook >>>
All of this made me think that we should have a “Reknit” class here at Finger Lakes Fibers. I know I’ve got a few objects in my closet that I love for the color/yarn, but the fit/style keeps me from wearing them. We could learn how to rip/ravel and wind, how to match resulting yarn to appropriate pattern and needles, and (of course) have fun. What do you think? Take a quick poll >>>
This leads to another exciting class idea: Goodwill Felting. You know the general drift of this one: go to Goodwill and buy some 100% wool sweaters, come home, cut them up, felt the pieces, and sew the pieces together to make something new and cool like a pillow or cell phone case. Take the poll now >>>
And another… using old wool (or new wool) fabric to make hugged rugs. I’m taking a series of classes on American primitive rug hooking now with Lucille Festa from American Country Rugs in Vermont. Lucille could come to the Finger Lakes and get us started hooking. What do you think? |

Personal Training Sessions - Any day, any time

(think socks, mitered squares, entrelac, stranded knitting), just call the shop and make an appointment with one of our staff for a personalized lesson in exactly what you want to learn, when you want to learn it – $20/hr; and 10% discount on yarn, patterns, and needles you use in your session.
